Waterford Bowl

2026 has been an encouraging start for the Discovery Bay Pirates Rugby Club. The DBP seniors team earned their first two wins of the new year, bringing pride to our community. The U-14 Barbarian Girls team—comprising talented players from DB Pirates, Sai Kung Stingrays, and Flying Kukuries—reached a significant milestone by winning both the League and Grand Final Championships.

Recently, U11DB Pirates continued to reach new milestones and secured additional trophies. The U11 team participated in the Waterford Bowl tournament, organised by the Mini Hong Kong Rugby Football Union. This tournament brought together nine of Hong Kong's top U-11 teams, each with 14 passionate young players, united by their love of rugby and competition.

The tournament involved each team playing four pool matches, followed by knockout rounds. The top four teams competed for the bowl, while the next set aimed for the shield—a new addition this year designed to give more players a chance to shine and develop.

Guided by Head Coach David Mills and Coach Damien Kutrzuk, the DB Pirates U-11 faced tough opponents, including HKU Sandy Bay, Valley Fort, Macau Bats, and Hong Kong Football Club, during the pool stages. Despite a challenging pool, the team showed resilience, narrowly losing to HKU Sandy Bay and Hong Kong Football Club, winning against Valley Fort, and drawing with Macau Bats.

Finishing sixth overall, the Pirates faced Valley Fort in the Shield Semi- Final. In a close match, they earned a victory with tries from Samu, Yujin, and Milo, advancing to the shield final against Monkey Rugby Club.

In an energetic final, the DB Pirates triumphed with tries from Yujin (scoring twice) and team captain Oliver, demonstrating their teamwork and determination.

Congratulations to Head Coach Dave Mills, Coach Damien Kutrzuk, and the DB Pirates U-11 players on their excellent results:
